C-F RESA ETC News

The second of our “Day for Media Specialists” events for this school term will be held at the Chattahoochee-Flint RESA ETC on Feb. 17th from 8:30 until 3:30. There is no charge to area media specialists.
We will have two speakers: Pam Murphy and Tommy Johns.
Our morning speaker will be Pam Murphy. Pam is media specialist at Long Cane Middle School, Troup County Schools, in LaGrange. She has received the Exemplary Media Specialist award for Middle Schools Division for both 2008-09 and 2009-10. Pam was a part of the ITEE technology grant team from her school. She has presented sessions at several GaETC conferences.
The afternoon speaker will be Tommy Johns, Educational Entertainment Specialist, who will present an interactive workshop called “Laugh and Learn.”
Mr. Johns describes his workshop as “designed to teach media specialists how to make learning more fun and effective by using humor in the classroom. We will discuss many types of humor and how to find the ones that work for you.
Remember your favorite teachers? Chances are that they created an atmosphere in the classroom that made learning fun! As a teacher librarian, you can be the favorite teacher to the whole school when you learn to create an environment where students learn and enjoy it!
Can’t tell a joke? Don’t worry. This is not about reciting stories you find at the end of Reader’s Digest articles. You will learn the importance of fun and laughter in the classroom and the value of humor in how humans learn. We will also look at humor as a method of avoiding burn out. “
